The Jubilee Year commenced with the
TamilNadu Chapter of the IASAP hosting the 10th
National Convention in April 2007.
Several other interesting, enlightening
and fun meetings were held during the year with
three events in April 2008 bringing down the
curtain on the Silver Jubilee festivities.
April 19, 2008 - About 50 excited
IASAP members boarded two chartered deluxe buses
for Sriperambadur amidst a lot of fun and camaraderie
with Claire Bentley leading us with some picnic
songs. We were welcomed by the Management and
Staff of Le Waterina, Lakeside Residences &
Resorts who hosted a fabulous lunch. Members
were invited to stroll around the hotel and
view the facilities and extensive grounds. A
fun meeting followed with lots of team games
and of course the favorite Tombola. It was a
very hot day, but we nevertheless enjoyed ourselves.
Members were presented with a gift and a goodie-bag
before leaving the hotel and heading back home.
A big thank you to Le Waterina for the sumptuous
lunch and for coming forward with gift coupons.
Thank you Karena and Team for organizing this
enjoyable "outing".
April 23, 2008 - International Administrative
Professionals Day was celebrated at The Park
who hosted an informal luncheon for the IASAP
members. The ladies strolled in looking smart
and cool in their summer cottons and light silks
wishing each other "Happy Administrative Professionals
Day" We were all just happy to meet and greet
each other and relax away from offices and homes
- it was Our Day! As is the customary practice,
draws or the Lucky Secretary were held with
fabulous gifts for the lucky ones. Our thanks
to The Park for hosting this meeting and to
Karena and crew for its wonderful organization.
April 27, 2008 - The Taj Coromandel Ballroom
which was the venue for the gala soiree glittered
in festive splendour with flowers, cut-outs,
balloons etc. indicative of a Silver Jubilee
celebration. Allan D'Cruz, the MC for the evening,
welcomed the gathering, notably the special
invitees, His Excellency, the Prince of Arcot,
Ms Pansy Reilly, All India IASAP President,
Ms Gayathri Sriram, MD, UCAL Auto Parts, Speaker
of the evening, who graced the occasion. The
New Horizons provided scintillating music which
set our feet a-tapping. The function commenced
with a prayer-song "God Still Loves the World"
by a small group of members, followed by the
very appropriate and popular song"Congratulations
and Celebrations" which set the jubilant tone
for the evening.
Ms Pansy Reilly, All India IASAP President,
on behalf of the Governing Council congratulated
Chairperson Karena Toner and Team, all Chapter
members and past Tamil Nadu Chairpersons on
the glorious occasion of the Silver Jubilee
of the Chapter and praised the contributions
of the TN Chapter towards the growth of the
IASAP.
Ms Gayathri Sriram's speech was one
of Thanks to the community of Secretaries and
Administrative Professionals for the invaluable
assistance and support they extended to management.
His Excellency, the Prince of Arcot reiterated
the importance of secretaries in the management
chain and said that confidentiality was a very
important prerequisite in a SECRETARY.
Past Chairpersons and Committee Members
were commended on their contributions towards
the growth and progress made by IASAP and mementos
were presented to those present. A cake with
the IASAP logo - courtesy the Taj Coromandel,
was cut jointly by Ms. Pansy Reilly and the
Jubilarian Members. The award for 100% Attendance
was presented to members fulfilling this requirement
and the Most Valuable Members Award was presented
to Sheila Vyas.
Karena then introduced her Committee
Members and thanked them for their unstinting
efforts put in to make the Silver Jubilee Year
a success.
Well, the evening went on, with the
Bar open, music, singing, dancing, prizes galore
and a sumptuous dinner - and above all, wonderful
company. For what more could one ask?
